Nestled along the bank of Lake Superior's rugged coastline, right at the very end of Cascade Beach Road, WoodSong is situated at the edge of Cascade River State Park and almost exactly between Lutsen and Grand Marais — easy 10-minute drives in either direction. Completely rebuilt, this artisan-crafted cabin was spared no expense in its attention to detail. From the overall design to the hand-forged forged ironwork, painstaking care was given to every square inch. The result is something more akin to a crafted wood sculpture than a mere dwelling. A spacious main room is built around the granite-faced wood-burning fireplace with French doors that open directly out to the Big Lake. Each of its 2 bedrooms has its own, private spa-like bath, complete with deep soaking tub.
Outside, the charm is in full force … Not only is WoodSong's patio a stone's throw from Lake Superior's lapping waves, but it also has a lake-side covered porch. Repurposed from an original, historic North Shore fish house — one of the few that remain standing from that bygone era — time with coffee, wine, and friends is about as close to North Shore ecstasy as it gets! As idyllic as WoodSong is, the cabin itself is only the beginning …
WoodSong is situated in the heart of the most legendary and spectacular section of the entire North Shore. Hundreds of miles of Sawtooth Mountains trails (hiking in the summer, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter) are accessible right out the front door of the cabin. Cascade Lodge Restaurant & Pub is an easy 1/2-mile walk and features great food, drinks, and frequent live music. A trail leading to Cascade Falls is only 1 mile from WoodSong's door. And within a 30-minute drive, everything the North Shore is known for is accessible: world-class hiking, fishing, kayaking, biking trails, skiing, galleries, restaurants, NorthHouse Folk School, and a vibrant live music scene. After all, WoodSong sits in the heart of Cook County and Grand Marais, which was named by Travel & Leisure magazine as "America's Best Small Lake Town" in 2023!

Summary: This property is second to none! I call it “Lux Rustic!” It definitely has that Up North Cabin vibe, but with a luxury twist. Very cozy, clean and comfortable.My husband and I stayed for our 40th anniversary celebration and it did not disappoint. Highlights were connecting with nature and each other . During our 4-night stay we didn’t see another human unless we left the property. The Lake Superior shoreline was ours to enjoy; we felt like the only people on the planet. We spent a lot of time in the fish house and exploring the shoreline. The water is so majestic and healing. We absolutely did not want to leave.As far as the cabin goes, it had every amenity imaginable. Plenty of glassware, cookware, fridge and freezer space for the two of us. We enjoyed a fire in the fireplace each evening and I soaked and relaxed every night in the huge bathtub.The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was set up very efficiently and feels roomy.We had a couple of questions and the host responded right away with tips and offers to assist.It was incredible and we plan on returning as soon as we can.

Summary: Great cabin for a trip with a mixed itinerary of getting outside during the day and nesting in at night. You can see the majority of the shoreline within an hour in either direction. Went upshore to Grand Portage and downshore to Silver Bay and caught lots of great hikes along the way. Then returned at night to cook and grill some amazing dinners in a perfectly appointed kitchen. Bonus to have a great Weber grill right there, too.

Summary: We have been staying on the shore for over 30 years at many different places. Woodsong is simply perfect. Lovely, tasteful, well appointed, convenient location, awesome owners. If you have up to 4 in your group, you can’t find a better place.

Summary: This 2bd/2bath home is beautifully appointed and concise in its design. Location could not be better. Seconds to the Cascade Restaurant and Bar, minutes into Grand Marais, minutes to Lutsen and Superior National Golf Course. Lovely outdoor fire pit with Adirondack chairs. Any negatives? No washer and dryer. Bring extra undies! Otherwise this place is perfect!!

Summary: This cabin ticks all the boxes for us to spend a week enjoying all the North Shore has to offer. The boat house is such a treat to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and the cabin is clean with comfortable beds and a cozy sitting area with a fireplace.
